Advocacy & Partnerships

In 2014, ECF set out to engage in advocacy and partnerships on a church-wide level to encourage major leadership formation institutions to incorporate a team leadership focus in their curriculum and discernment processes. This has resulted in an annual gathering of Episcopal leadership formation institutions (both seminaries as well as local leadership formation programs) with the aim of deepening these institutions' commitment to forming strong team leaders.

ECF first tested this annual 'leadership colloquium' concept in May 2015 and convened a second gathering in 2016 in the Diocese of Los Angeles. Attendees included representatives from General Theological Seminary, Bloy House, Virginia Theological Seminary, Kemper School for Ministry, Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Seabury-Bexley Hall, the dioceses of Colorado and Minnesota, and ChurchNext. In both 2015 and 2016, these in-person gatherings were followed by an online gathering to further integrate learnings from these events. Planning for the 2017 gathering underway.

Please be in touch with Brendon Hunter at if you represent a leadership formation institution and would like to attend an upcoming in-person gathering.
