ECF Vital Practices: Caring for God's Creation April Updates
04/04/11

Four new articles have been added to the March/April edition of Vestry Papers on ECF Vital Practices.  These four new articles focus on actions congregations and other faith groups can take to honor and protect the Earth while at the same time building relationships in their community. Returning author Fletcher Harper notes, “More and more people believe that protecting Creation is a religious value. And yet, congregations have not taken many of the basic steps to develop an ongoing environmental ministry.”

We hope these new articles help congregations interested in environmental engagement take those first steps. Articles include:

Meeting God in a Faith Garden, by Timothy Goldman, member at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, West Des Moines, IA, and Mark Marshall, one of the shepherds behind the Faith and Garden ministry.

Mayordomía Ambiental, en español, El Rvdo. Dr. Mario H. Rodríguez Sánchez, el clero asistente en la Parroquia San Juan Bautista, Catedral de la Iglesia Episcopal Puertorriqueña en San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Greening Our Faith -- Putting Belief into Action, by the Rev. Fletcher Harper, an Episcopal priest and Executive Director of GreenFaith, an interfaith environmental coalition.

Faith in Action, by Philip Mantle, director of the Messiah-St. Bartholomew Development Center and Jubilee officer for the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago.
