ECF Board Meets in Atlanta

ECF Board Meets in Atlanta GA:  Affirms ECF Leadership Initiatives; Elects New Board Officers; Awards Henry Knox Sherrill Award to Retiring Board Chair, Dr. Mac McFarling

The Board of Directors of the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF) met May 7-9 in Atlanta, GA, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.  While celebrating the 12 years of service of board chair Dr. Mac McFarling, ECF honored him with the Henry Knox Sherrill Medal for Outstanding Service to the Episcopal Church.  The board affirmed ECF’s leadership initiatives including the Fellowship Partners Program, Vestry Papers, and several pilot and partnership programs. 

The board also elected new officers: Sally A. Skardon, Greenville, SC, board chair; Robin Caldwell, Plano, TX, Vice Chair; Beverly Fisk Kelsey, Darien, CT, Treasurer, and Cecilia A. Mowatt, Esq., Chicago, IL, Secretary. 

“ECF has been extremely privileged to have benefited from Mac’s wisdom, insights and guidance over the past years,” said Donald V. Romanik, ECF President.  “Thanks in large part to his leadership, ECF is providing practical and innovative solutions to Episcopal faith communities in the areas of leadership and financial resource development, and empowering them support their members to live out the Gospel.”

The board also met with the Rt. Rev. Neil Alexander, bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta.  Bishop Alexander expressed his appreciation for ECF’s work, including recent leadership workshops at the diocese’s annual ministry fair as well as for Vestry Papers, which provides information and insights into running a parish.

“Under Mac McFarling’s leadership, ECF honed its vision and focused on creating positive impacts with leadership and financial resource development for congregations,” said Skardon.  “As an innovative force, ECF will continue to provide creative solutions to revitalize and empower congregations for mission.”  Skardon serves as the Equipping Coordinator at Christ Church, Greenville, SC, and is also actively involved at Church of the Transfiguration in Saluda, NC.

ECF's next board meeting will be held October 28-30, 2010, in New York.
