As part of ECF's on-going efforts to assist congregations in developing their leadership and financial resources, we are offering a wide range of webinars for clergy and lay parish leaders this winter. There is no cost to participate in any of these webinars and all lay and clergy leaders are welcome to participate.
Topics will include vestry leadership, capital campaigns, endowments, and planned giving.
- Basics of Planned Giving (January 31, 2012, 6:30 - 8:30 PM ET)
You will learn the basics of planned giving, how it differs from annual stewardship and capital campaigns, how your parish can build endowment through life income gifts, and you will have a plan of action by the end of the webinar. Click here to learn more and register.
- Basics of a Parish Capital Campaign (February 8, 2012, 6:00 - 7:00 PM ET and March 19, 2012, 6:00 - 7:00 PM ET)
The webinar will provide a step-by-step understanding of the three phases: Discernment, Feasibility Study, and the Gifting Phase. This workshop is based on the award-winning publication from the Episcopal Church Foundation: The Vestry Resource Guide. It is designed for new vestry members, or for wardens and clergy who are responsible for orienting new members. Explore what it means to lead an Episcopal congregation; to work well with others; to communicate effectively; to mobilize and steward resources; and to manage transitions. - Basics of a School or Joint Parish-School Capital Campaign (February 21, 2012, 6:00 - 7:00 PM ET)
If you are a leader at an independent, Episcopal school, or of a school joined to a parish, this is the webinar for you. We will discuss the similarities and differences with parish capital campaigns and focus on pre-K through 12th grade independent and residential schools. Topics will include: the role of the development staff; the reasons for using an outside consultant; and how to include parents, grandparents, and alumni groups. - Basics of Endowments (February 28, 2012, 6:30 - 7:30 PM ET)
This workshop reviews basic principles and best practices for endowment management. You will examine important, and easy to use, documents to use for structuring your endowment and for clarifying its purpose. Participants will also learn about endowment policies and investment options which not only seek to protect an existing endowment, but will demonstrate how endowments can be used as to enhance your ministries and overall mission, and build trust and confidence among your potential donors. - NEW!! Making a Planned Gift to Benefit Your Congregation (March 14, 2012, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM ET)
Join other parishioners just like you to learn more about planned giving options and how they can benefit both you and your congregation. Planned or legacy giving is an important aspect of your stewardship and can take many different forms such as a bequest in a will, charitable gift annuity, life insurance beneficiary and many other opportunities. All you need to participate in one of our webinars is a computer (PC or Mac) with an internet connection and a telephone. If you have a headset and microphone, you can also participate over VOiP from your computer without the need to call in on the phone.
There is no charge to participate. Once you have registered, ECF will email you call-in instructions and instructional materials for the webinar.
