Vestry Papers Awards
Vestry Papers was the winner of eight national awards at the annual meeting of the Episcopal Communicators, an unprecedented number for the publication.
Named for the late religious journalist Polly Bond, the awards honor those entries and publications which hold true to particularly high journalistic standards. Hundreds of entries are submitted from throughout the United States. Vestry Papers is judged in the newsletter category, and thus, competes with a wide range of submissions from around the country. In the last three years, Vestry Papers has won fifteen such awards.
Vestry Papers won four first place awards and four third place awards. These awards are:
Award for Excellence for Theological Reflection Article: Avoiding the Quick Fix. Author: Margaret Treadwell, January/February 2004.
For three years in a row, Vestry Papers has won first place in the theological reflection category.
Award for Excellence for Humor Things Best Left Unsaid. Author: Lindsay Hardin Freeman, November/December 2004.
Award for Excellence for In-depth Coverage of a Current Issue Leadership for Uncertain Times, January/February 2004.
Award for Excellence for News Story Article: More than Business as Usual: A Multicultural Scenario. Author: Lindsay Hardin Freeman, November/December 2004.
Honorable Mention for Feature Story Article: Grow or Go — A Radical One Point Program. Author: William McD. Tully, September/October 2004.
Honorable Mention for General Excellence Three consecutive issues must be entered for this, the top-all around category.
Honorable Mention: Front Page Planned Giving: Legacies of the Faithful, design by Monarch Communications, Milburn, New Jersey, March/April 2004.

Vestry Papers is published by Cornerstone, a ministry of the Episcopal Church Foundation and edited by the Rev. Lindsay Hardin Freeman. Vestry Papers is the only regular publication for vestry members and now has close to 30,000 readers.
