Members of the ECF staff will be attending the Episcopal Communicators Conference taking place in Portland, Oregon on April 20-23, 2016. ECF looks forward to being present with our fellow communicators! The theme of the conference is as follows and registration information can be found just below.
New Wineskins: Communicating good news in a changing culture
"No one puts new wine into old wineskins: otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost, and so are the skins: but one puts new wine into fresh wineskins" (Mark 2:22).
The days of captive audiences and rapt attention to the church’s message are over. In the 21st century, our audiences include those whose first language is not English; people brought up without religious affiliation; and those whose attention has become a commodity for which we must compete. Church communicators face greater challenges than ever. What tools, what awareness, what skills are required to fulfill our calling, using language and tools that will connect in another language, whether Spanish, secular, or social media platforms.
